Owl Journal

Yesterday I showed you a cd cover I made for my sister's birthday a few weeks ago. Here's the other gift I sent her. Jill likes owls, and I found this journal on the clearance shelf at Meijer. I dressed it up a little with some ribbon, coordinating card stock, and a monogram with my JustRite stampers. I love to embellish simple little things like this to make them a special gift for someone. Thanks for stopping by!

"You Rock" cd cover

I made this cd cover for my sister a few weeks ago. Inside is a cd I made her with a bunch of great workout songs on it. Everyone can use a new ideas for their workout mix every now and again!

The image is Rockstar Anya from The Greeting Farm. I like to paper piece with these stamps. They're perfect for it and so fun to dress Anya and Ian with different patterned papers! I even paper pieced her headband and guitar. Thanks for stopping by!

Memorial Day

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!

Box of "E" Baja Breeze cards

A friend asked me to make a boxed set of cards for one of her children's teachers. She picked the retired Baja Breeze DSDSP to use for them. I made two each of five designs with a matching pen to put in a little gift box. Thanks for stopping by!

PreK Teacher gift

Yesterday I showed you the card I made for my son's preschool teachers. Today, I'm showing you the gift box of cards I made for them.

I used Andrea Walford's Tart & Tangy Stamp Class project as inspiration for my cards. I made two each of five designs for a total of ten cards in each gift box. I ran my card stock bases through my computer printer first and printed scripture verses on the insides of the cards. I used two scriptures that mentioned fruit, Proverbs 11:30 and Galations 5:22-23. I hope they liked them!

I love this little stamp set and the coordinating DSDSP that has since been retired. I should have stockpiled it before it was gone! Thanks for stopping by!

PreK Teacher card

My son finished preschool last week, so I've been working on some things for his two teachers. Here's the card I made for each of them using an Ian stamp from The Greeting Farm. I love paper piecing with these stamps. His hat and scarf are pieced with patterned and solid red SU! paper. As a special touch, I added some of the (non SU!) patterned paper to the envelope flap. Thanks for stopping by!

Card Purse

I've been making gifts right and left lately! This is a simple card purse that I made for a friend to use as a gift for her mother-in-law. She is going to fill it with cards and postage stamps. The pattern is from Andrea Walford. Thanks for stopping by!

Stationary Boxes Everywhere!

I mentioned in my posts last week that I had been making some stationary boxes and posted pictures of the ones using the Parisian Breeze Specialty DSDSP. Here's a picture of three of the four that I made. The fourth was another one just like the center box shown here made with the To the Nines Specialty DSDSP. Below are some more pictures of the To the Nines boxes.

Geist Half Marathon

I ran my fourth half marathon this morning, the Geist Half Marathon. Last fall I posted about running the Indianapolis Half Marathon. I am unable to run that race again this fall. Instead, I thought I'd plan to run the United States Air Force Half Marathon at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio in September. To get a seeded starting position at that race, women must have run a half marathon in 1:52:00 or less--80 seconds faster than my half marathon last fall. That became my goal for the race this morning.

I didn't train as well as I would have liked to this spring. I was beset with illness for a lot of March and April. However, I was able to set another personal record this morning! I ran the race in 1:50:16, which qualifies me for a seeded position at the USAF Half Marathon in September and is a full three minutes faster than last fall's race! I can't believe I did it!

time: 1:50:16
average pace: 8:26 per mile
overall place: 529th out of 2765 participants
gender place: 112th out of 1421 women participants
age group place: 30th out of 227 women participants age 30 to 34

More Stationary Boxes

In addition to the box of monogrammed cards I posted about yesterday, I was recently asked to make a number of monogrammed stationary kits. Coincidentally, I made two each of two color schemes, two using the new specialty DSDSP Parisian Breeze, which is what the cards were made of in yesterday's post, and the other with another of the specialty papers, To the Nines.

Here's one of the stationary kits made with the Parisian Breeze papers. When I made stationary kits back in December, I attached the bag of self-adhesive monogrammed envelope seals to the box. Since then, I saw the idea of attaching a little birthday and anniversary calendar book to the box on the Inking Idaho blog, so I decided to do that this time instead. I put the bag of monogrammed envelope seals in one of the box pockets behind the jumbo paper clips. I like this better, and when I make these again, I'll decorate the book instead of letting it plain. Thanks for stopping by!

Box of "M" Parisian Breeze Cards

A friend of mine asked me to make a set of monogrammed cards for her sister as a birthday gift. I had made some stationary boxes for her back in December, but this time she just wanted the cards, and not the other little gifts all tucked inside the box.

She picked out the new Specialty DSDSP in the SU! catalog called Parisian Breeze. It's a patterned paper, but it's card stock weight. It's also textured instead of smooth card stock. It's beautiful in person.

I'm going to post these pictures over in the Stampin' with Melissa gift shop. Watch for that coming soon! I will make two each of five designs in any DSDSP color scheme and package them in a little box with matching pen for $14. It makes a great gift! Thanks for stopping by!

Preschool Graduation Card

My baby is graduating from preschool this week. *sniff sniff* I was trying to find a congratulations/graduation card design last week, and I ran across this one on the Splitcoast Stampers website in the Classic Stars jumbo wheel gallery. I started making my own version of it, and when I was finished, decided it would be perfect for our graduation card for him. Thanks for stopping by!

May 8 for $10 Cards II

Here are the other two cards from last week's May 8 for $10 workshop. If you didn't see the first two, scroll down for yesterday's post.

The first one was inspired by this card on the It's All About Stamping! blog. I didn't do quite the same treatment on the wings and flower, but opted to use Crystal Effects instead to make the wings and flower petals glossy, but not glittery.

Finally, I was asked by someone if I was planning to do a graduation card. I didn't have my fourth card design picked yet, so I chose a generic "Congratulations" card that could be used for anything, including a graduate. I found my inspiration in this card on the Splitcoast Stampers gallery.

I still have a few sets of cards available for sale if you missed last week's workshop. Just email me if you're interested! Thanks for stopping by!

May 8 for $10 Cards I

Today I'm showing you two of the four cards we made for the May 8 for $10 workshop.

The first one is a card that is very similar to one made by my upline for a Stamp-A-Stack event she had a few weeks ago. Thanks, Bobbi! I simply changed out the colors and modified the greeting.

The second card was inspired by a card I saw on Lorri Heiling's blog here. I just swapped out the patterned paper with a current SU! patterned paper, which, by the way is on sale this month! See my previous blog post for more information on the National Scrapbooking Month promotions from Stampin' Up!.

I'll show you the other two cards tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Mother's Day!

Take a look at this great Mother's Day gift from my oldest son! They made these in their preschool class. Check out that handmade card! I just love them both!

I also love the preschool that my son has attended for the past two years, Kids' Kingdom Preschool at the Wilkinson Church of Christ. Last year he attended as a 3-year old two days per week, and this year as a 4-year old three days per week. I can't believe he'll start kindergarten next year! We go to our kindergarten registration this week. Where does the time go?!? I'm trying not to get emotional over it, but I fear I will sit and bawl the whole time at his registration! I have to keep reminding myself that next year will be great, because it will be my youngest son's turn to have Mommy all to himself for a little while every day. Thanks for stopping by!
