Made from Scratch

Two years ago, two stamping friends of mine, Sally and Angie, came over to my house to make this card in mass quantity. We made them for our church's women's ministry Valentine boxes. Every year, the women's ministry gathers all sorts of goodies to box up and send to college students and military personnel who are connected with our church. We made the valentine cards to be signed and placed in each box.

I realize these aren't your typical valentine colors. In fact, that has sort of become a trademark of mine. I don't often use the standard color schemes associated with holidays when I make cards. I usually do something a little off from the norm. Also, I didn't want anything too sappy sweet (feminine), because both men and women would be receiving the boxes.

I like this card layout or "sketch", and I've used it on other cards as well. The stamp set was the very first hostess set I received, Made from Scratch. Thanks for stopping by!

Greetings Galore

This is a valentine that my mom and I made when my parents were out for a visit in February 2007. The design was inspired by some materials that were in my Stampin' Up! demonstrator startup kit. I then used this card at a workshop here at my house that year as well. It's super easy and very cute.

The Greetings Galore set has since been retired. I sold the set, and my mom bought it! I should remind her to make this card design for her valentines this year. Thanks for stopping by!

Loads of Love

This is a card that wasn't intended to be a valentine. When I was looking back through some old cards last week, I found it and thought it could pass for one, so I decided to put it on here with some other previous valentine cards I've made.

This card was actually one of two make and take projects that I had at my very first event as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. It was a spring open house, and everyone had the option of making this as an Easter card if they wished. The Loads of Love Accessories stamp set has an Easter sentiment and pile of Easter eggs that can be stamped on the back of the truck instead of flowers. There are hearts too that can be used for Valentine's Day. It's a very versatile set--and old too! This set seems to have been around forever and hasn't retired yet! It was the first stamp set I ever purchased. Thanks for stopping by!

My 1st Valentine

Here's a picture of the first valentine card I ever made after I started as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. It started out being black, but Jim told me a black valentine seemed sort of morbid. Even though I prefer the black version, I think the white one is still one of my favorites. I know the stamp set is still one of my favorites. It was a free Sell-A-Bration set from back in January 2006. Speaking of SAB, check out yesterday's post below or click here. Thanks for stopping by!

January 8 for $10 Workshop

The January 8 for $10 workshop scheduled for this evening has been postponed until next Tuesday, February 3rd. Stay safe and warm for the next few days!

Here's a sneak peek at the four projects we'll be making Tuesday evening for the January 8 for $10 workshop. Hope to see you there! If the weather gets nasty, we'll postpone it until next Tuesday, February 3rd. Thanks for stopping by!

Sale-A-Bration will soon be here!

Every year, Stampin' Up! has a promotion called Sale-A-Bration. This year, it will run from February 1st until March 31st. For every $50 in merchandise that you purchase, you can pick a free stamp set, designer series paper pack or ribbon kit from the SAB mini catalog. I look forward to the SAB promo every year. Contact me if you're interested in placing an order.

The new Stampin' Up! catalog's official start date was last Monday, the 19th. Sorry I haven't posted about it sooner! If you'd like a copy, please contact me. In the meantime, if you have a high-speed internet connection, the online version can be found on the Stampin' Up! website. Thanks for stopping by!

Here We Go!

Sorry!

I mentioned late last week that I was hoping to get some stamping done this weekend. I was hoping to start working on some projects for this month's 8 for $10 workshop and give you some sneak peeks. My weekend just didn't go as expected, and I had some other things that needed to be done instead.

I have, however, been cooking up a storm lately, so if you're interested, click on over to the Cookin' with Melissa blog. There are some new posts there. Thanks for stopping by!

One more candy box!

Before Christmas I shared with you some very simple decorated candy boxes I made for gifts of homemade peppermint divinity. You can see them here and here. These are two more boxes that I made to contain some peanut butter fudge for my dad and brother. You can read about the recipe on the Cookin' with Melissa blog here.

I need to get some cards made, so hopefully over the weekend I'll have a chance to stamp a few. If so, then I'll share them with you next week. Thanks for stopping by!

Clutter Free! (Almost)

I was dreading going to the basement to clear off my stamping desk. Everything remotely associated with my papercrafting had been pitched on it in the past few weeks: receipts, new Christmas stamping gifts, scraps of paper from Christmas projects--you name it, it was cluttering my stamping area. Today I took a little time to clear it, and it didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would. (I cleared it just in time for a Stampin' Up! order to be delivered today.)

My space still isn't as organized as I would like it to be, but I'm hoping to install some shelving in the coming months to give me a bigger workspace. For now, I have enough room to create some valentine cards for the January 8 for $10 workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 27th. So stay tuned for some sneak peeks in the next week! Speaking of Valentine's Day, be sure to check out Stampin' Up!'s Love You Much Valentine Bundle promotion going on now through January 31st. Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Cards IV

This is the final handmade Christmas card I received this year. It was from one of my newest stamping friends, Polly Harwood. You can see she even made some matching envelopes for her cards! Polly and her daughters have attended many of my workshops and stamp camps this year. Thanks for stamping with me, Polly!

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Cards III

I love this adorable little Elf Anya card from my sister, Jill Weaverling. The stamp is from The Greeting Farm, which used to be known as Pink Poison. The Elf Anya stamp was a limited edition stamp back in November that you can no longer purchase. I love my Anya and Ian stamps! Thank you, Jill, for the cute, glittery card! Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Cards II

Here is the next handmade card I received. It's from my friend, Michelle Overman. Thank you, Michelle, for the great new idea for the Snow Swirled stamp set! Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Cards I

I know Christmas is over, but I wanted to share with you some of the handmade Christmas cards I received. This first one is from my mom, Val Weaverling. Thank you for the lovely card, Mom! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy New Year!

Have a happy, safe and healthy 2009!
